Mexico Between Disappointment and Hope

14 Jul 2023

In the difficult journey that has been the policy of mexico in the past five years, it is not strange that we are exhausted. The promises presidential eradicate corruption and build a Mexico more equitable, safer, and just seem to fade away in front of the reality, leaving us eager for justice, equity and prosperity.

Then, in this scenario, Xóchitl Gálvez appears as a beacon of hope. Like a mirage at the end of the desert, and although it obviously does not have all the answers that we need, at least his voice has broken the silence, bringing a real ray of hope in these difficult times. His message resonates among those of us who have decided that we can no longer continue with BRUNETTE.

However, on this journey toward a more promising future, we are divided. Some, eager for a change, is tempted by what Gálvez offers and don't want to hear any more; for them it is the last Coca Cola in the desert and would be a jerk if you don't take advantage of. Others, more cautious, we wonder what other options there are. In the midst of this dilemma, there is a possible change of address: Citizen Movement.

But what is a Citizen's Movement of a real option or is the child that wants to sit at the table of the great? For me, the answer that gives Dante Delgado it seems to me good enough: With the PRI, or to the corner. Because yes, because it has reason. Why should we believe that those who created the conditions for a populist leader as Andrés Manuel to become president, they will be those who now get us out of trouble? How can these parties, whose policies and past actions have fueled the social divisions and corruption, be presented as a real alternative now?

There are those who might even suggest that there are two MC: one pragmatic and the other ambitious, one that wants to survive the storm, and another that wants to dance in the rain. But, oh, my gosh, compadres, do not fall into these segmentations! For me, there is only one MC: that is not the PRI, or the BREAD or PRD. Point.

MC is not dancing cumbia in the midst of the storm, or wearing boots of lead. No, MC is in front of the biggest opportunity of her story: to provide a real alternative to the citizens that we still have hope. Small challenge to have. Of course, could give us another old political regurgitated, bathed and make us believe that this is the great option, or yes, it could be the MC that has led them to govern two of the leading states of the country and come out with proposals for new, fresh and truly represent us. Because that's the policy: non-survival or victory but to lead the change despite the challenges.

To us, whom we are not at the parties, but to who we want to be something more than just spectators, we require, and to unite our voices. Here are three proposals of demand that we can come to all, regardless of fili or phobias:

1) That the president and his team remember they are still a year to govern, and that, despite the disappointing they have been the past five years, you still have the responsibility of serving the people of mexico.

2) That the Alliance is Going to Mexico to act as a true opposition, presenting proposals real and not just strategies to win elections. We need to know how they are going to prevent a populist leader as AMLO return to power.

3) That the MC to demonstrate that you are thinking of Mexico, presenting a candidate that truly represents the citizens, or by joining an alliance to do so. We ask that you show that you know how to do policy, and that the interests of Mexico are above any aspiration of personal or party.

Because, in the end, politics is not a game of survival or victory, or a contest of warlords or a dance of alliances. It is the commitment to the future, the willingness to fight for a better Mexico. So let us keep our eyes on the goal and do not let us be seduced by false promises. Our strength as citizens, and our ability to demand a better future, we must be guided toward a Mexico that is more just and prosperous.
